New bitcoin futures surge on Cboe and trigger two trading halts
Bitcoin futures faced their first test of how to handle volatility within hours of launching Sunday on the Cboe Futures Exchange.
Bitcoin rallied as the futures launched. The digital currency rose more than 9 percent Monday morning to $16,436, according to CoinDesk’s Bitcoin Price Index. The index tracks prices from digital currency exchanges Bitstamp, Coinbase, itBit and Bitfinex.
